The Game Designer/Writer will write engaging game narratives, craft novel game mechanics, create new worlds, and write effective instructional content for educational video games.
Writes and/or completes content and technical materials for educational digital games and applications.
Writes and/or completes content and technical materials, to include but not limited to educational digital games, applications, manuals, research material, and protocols.
Manages information such as data entry, technical reports, and research documents.
Applies components of effective gamebased learning to educational game design.
Conducts research and compiles materials and information.
Provides technical writing assistance to the K20 Center.
Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or related field, AND:
24 months experience as a writer.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience
Skills:
Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
Knowledge of instructional theories and design processes
Knowledge of game and narrative design
Knowledge of GameBased Learning theories
knowledge of learning principles
Proficient in copy writing, editing, proofreading and composition
Certifications:
None
Advertised Physical Requirements:
Must be able to engage in repetitive motion and communicate effectively.
Departmental Preferences:
5 years demonstrated experience in interactive writing or game design
Experience working in software development and/or education
Supervision: none
