The Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in advancing the College of Professional and Continuing Studies' (PACS) mission through insightful data management and analysis across key areas.
With a focus on academic excellence, operational efficiency, informed financial decisions, and strategic program development, this role is integral to PACS' growth and success.
Collaborating across departments and utilizing a range of data systems and tools, the Data Analyst generates actionable insights that drive continuous improvement and guide strategic decisionmaking.
Essential Functions: Manages and interprets master data, including creation, updates and deletion.
Uses statistical tools, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
Mines data from primary and secondary sources, reorganizing said data in various formats.
Manages users and user roles.
Provides quality assurance of imported data.
Commissions and decommissions data sets.
Processes confidential data and information according to guidelines.
Manages and designs the reporting environment, including data sources, security and metadata.
Supports initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
Generates reports from single or multiple systems, training end users on new reports and dashboards.
Troubleshoots the reporting database environment and reports.
Provides technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining and data cleansing.
Identifies opportunities for process improvements.
Creates appropriate documentation of the data analysis process.
Lead the collection of course evaluations for the annual faculty evaluation process in the Student Experience Survey.
Oversee annual catalog updates in NextCatalog (April).
Aggregate and report course observation data in Excel and PowerBI at the end of each term.
Execute the Dean’s Honor Roll report at the conclusion of fall and spring terms.
Facilitate the annual program assessment process in collaboration with PACS faculty and staff using Nuventive (August and September).
Maintain data integrity and accuracy within PACS databases and the CRM.
Update PACS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on data reported by PACS directors in a shared Excel file on a monthly basis.
Collect and summarize data required for US News Surveys on Best Online Programs in coordination with the Institutional Research and Reporting (IRR) team (midSeptember).
Track, generate reports, and visualize student lifecycle stages, student course performance, student bursar records, and faculty data using campus systems and relevant tools.
Develop reports in Cognos and other PACS data systems to address inquiries from faculty and staff regarding student and faculty data.
Manage user administration for PACS MIS, update course and faculty data, and conduct periodic data maintenance projects.
Provide training to PACS faculty and staff on Cognos, PACS MIS, and other college data repository and reporting applications.
Handle additional datarelated tasks arising from faculty and staff needs.
Complete institutional surveys aligned with PACS' nontraditional mission.
Assist in the annual assessment and Academic Program Review (APR) processes for existing programs.
Calculate faculty course payments for each session.
Lead identified/sponsored projects in line with PACS administration.
Contribute to the development of new academic programs and courses.
Job Requirements Required Education: Bachelor's degree AND: 24 month's experience in computing, programming, and analysis, or a related field Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months experience.
Skills: Strong proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and Cognos.
Ability to use SQL for querying databases, data manipulation, and complex data retrieval.
Familiarity with CRM systems, database management, and reporting platforms such as Salesforce and Slate.
Knowledge of higher education operations, financial processes, and program development.
Ability to translate business requirements into nontechnical, lay terms Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English Advanced computer skills with wide knowledge of business software Proficient in Microsoft Office Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines Strong initiative to solve problems Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives Able to effectively evaluate projects/programs and produce comprehensive reports Certifications: None Advertised Physical Requirements: Must be able to engage in repetitive motions, grasp, feel, touch, hear, communicate Department Preferences: Master's degree preferred.
