Marketing/Communications Specialist
Primary responsibilities will revolve around the oversight of OU Housing and Food Services’ restaurant accounts and projects related to Campus Dining.
They will manage the daytoday direction of restaurant publicity, campaign management and social media exposure.
Building relationships with the Food Services director and restaurant managers also is vital to this position.
The specialist will at times design and create marketing materials (e.
g.
promotional coupons, flyers, restaurant signage, etc.
) and be involved with the handson work associated with account development (e.
g.
updating Facebook pages, tweeting, delivering materials to managers, etc.
).
They also will oversee student interns assisting with Food Services marketing.
In addition to the management of Food Services marketing, the specialist also will be assigned to similar tasks supporting other areas of Campus Operations.
Job Duties: Develop and manage strategic plans for restaurant concepts Create content and manage Campus Dining social media accounts Maintain communication with restaurant managers about account statuses Plan and handle specific shortterm tactical work for restaurant accounts (research, campaign planning, event management and writing) Assists with the design, layout and written content for electronic, print, merchandise/promotional, multimedia communications, and graphics arts projects Manages web site content, makes edits, and updates.
Discusses changes with supervisor Assists with redesigns on sites or pages for a better user experience Assists with developing and maintaining landing pages Assists with marketing campaigns, including production and publicity photos Monitor restaurant account budgets and profitability Plan for longterm development and growth of accounts Reviews items for Style Guide compliance, making changes as needed Assists with redesigns on sites or pages for a better user experience Supervise student interns assigned to restaurant accounts Oversee student interns assisting with Food Services marketing Prepare account status reports for direct supervisor and Food Services Director Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position Job Requirements Required Education or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications or related field.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.
Skills: Microsoft Office proficiency Proficient with Adobe CS programs Proficient with social media platforms Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information Strong writing and editing skills, along with working knowledge of AP Style Must be able to communicate and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff Ability to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives Must have strong initiative to solve problems Organized and ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines Excellent verbal and written communication skills Certifications: Valid driver's license to drive any university vehicle or to access offsite promotional/recruitment events.
Advertised Physical/Environmental Requirements: Ability to engage in repetitive motions Standard office environment Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies Ability to lift objects less than 15 pounds Department Preferences: Writing, editing and proofreading experience Social media management experience experience with broadcast production and editing (photography and videography); PR/Advertising agency experience; Web development and content management experience; Previous professional management or supervisory experience Supervision: Position directly supervised by Director of Marketing and Communications Special Instructions: If you are selected as a final candidate for this position, you will be subject to The University of Oklahoma Norman Campus Tuberculosis Testing policy.
