This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to understand, follow and/or provide verbal and written instructions or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
License and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
Must obtain an Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License, Class A with N endorsement within one (1) year of employment depending on class/testing availability.
Must obtain Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality Wastewater License Class D within one (1) year of employment.
Knowledge: Hand and power tools.
Maintenance and construction work.
Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and citizens while performing duties.
Must be able to follow written instructions.
Ability to work well with others.
Essential Functions: Operates flush truck and vacuum truck.
Performs preventative maintenance on collection lines.
Removes line blockages.
Daily written reporting.
Records conditions of collection lines and documents data.
Cleans and maintains manholes.
Repairs collection lines.
Lays new pipe.
Interfaces with citizens in person regarding minor complaints or questions.
Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.
Works in a safe manner.
Keeps work area clean and safe.
Follows safety rules and safe work practices.
Uses safety equipment as required.
Performs related duties as required.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.
) and heavy (50-75 lb.
) supplies, materials, and debris frequently.
Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors.
Exposure to hazards associated with equipment, machinery, ungraded terrain at construction sites, and moving vehicles on roadways.
On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
