University Collections Department ("UCD"), a division of the Office of Legal Counsel, has an opening for a Legal Assistant position.
Primary responsibilities include processing incoming online and inhouse payments, posting the payments and adjusting accounts, sorting and distributing incoming mail, managing all court costs due on accounts, provide account information to students, answering multiline phone, and other duties as may be required.
Works with court clerks, process servers, and judge's staff to file cases and set hearings.
The Legal Assistant will be receiving, storing, utilizing, maintaining, and communicating sensitive information such as student identification numbers, social security numbers, sensitive demographic information and other private information protected by federal acts such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and /or the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act.

Job Requirements
Required Education: High school diploma or GED, AND:
24 months' experience in a legal office or paralegal license.
Skills:
Knowledge of case management software.
Knowledge of legal procedures, protocols, and court system.
Advanced Excel skills with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets.
Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Access, and Outlook.
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
Ability to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
