OU Education Services (OUES) is a nonprofit created to manage and grow online learning at the University of Oklahoma.
The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents has authorized OU to engage OUES in supporting OU to manage and deliver online programs and courses.
OUES was created in collaboration with the university and will improve OU's capabilities to increase education accessibility.
The Instructional Designer collaborates with faculty subject matter experts to design and develop engaging, high-quality online courses.
This role provides instructional design expertise to ensure courses align to best practices and university standards.
Key responsibilities:
Consults with faculty on course design, including learning objectives, assessments, content sequencing, and instructional strategies.
Applies instructional design models, learning theories, and multimedia techniques to create an effective online learning experience.
Manages individual course development projects from kickoff to implementation, including scoping, documentation, and scheduling.
Assist in program reviews and program modifications as needed.
Administers LMS sub-accounts and provides ongoing instructional support to faculty.
Contributes to new program development initiatives through requirements gathering, curriculum mapping, and content authoring.
Participates in internal team meetings and program coordination meetings.
Maintains project plans, tracks progress, and reports status using department tools and systems.
Required Skills/Requirements:
Good attitude, positive mindset, and commitment to the OUES values
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field
1-3 years of instructional design experience, preferably in higher education
Working knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design models, and eLearning standards
Proficiency with learning management systems and eLearning authoring tools
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse teams
Excellent project management, time management, and problem-solving skills
Additional Skills/Requirements:
Master's degree in Instructional Design or related field
Prior experience supporting faculty in course design and development
Knowledge of active learning and multimedia techniques
Experience gathering requirements and applying instructional strategies
Familiarity with accessibility standards and quality assurance processes
