*Job Description* *Job Title:* Career Counselor I *General Description:* The purpose of this position is to provide intentional professional career counseling to virtual Toksali SMART program participants seeking career exploration, academic counseling and employment training.
This position assists the Curriculum Design Manager in identifying training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements for the virtual Toksali SMART program participants while monitoring all aspects of assigned virtual participants’ training and assisting with the identification and removal of barriers to success.
This is a specialized position and requires a highly skilled and detail oriented professional that is capable of ensuring virtual participants are functioning at a high level and achieving goals set.
The Toksali SMART program is an employment training program with the intent to create tomorrow’s leaders.
This position aides in the development, implementation, and continuity of the curriculum for the Toksali SMART virtual program, providing assistance to the manager in monitoring training for participants and support staff within the Chickasaw Nation boundaries service area.
*Supervision Received:* Toksali SMART Curriculum Design Manager *Supervision Exercised:* Virtual Toksali SMART participants in assigned areas.
*Supervision Essential Job Functions:* * Required to support the mission of the Chickasaw Nation.

* Represent the Chickasaw Nation and Toksali SMART Program in a positive exemplary manor at all times.
* Responsible to the manager to assist with all aspects of participant curriculum development, design and training events within the Toksali SMART program by contributing to developing, monitoring, and evaluating instructor-led and virtual training events to ensure curriculum and course content is consistent, current and accurate; coordinates with program managers to ensure all program offices are consistent in training conducted.
* Responsible for assisting with the processing of applications and interviews of potential participants and making recommendation of participation to Toksali SMART manager.
* Responsible for creating, monitoring, and evaluating participants’ training schedules to ensure that they meeting the requirements of active participation.
* Ensure that participants are actively participating with their established career, academic and training goals set by participant and career counselor.
* Responsible for conducting corrective interviews/meetings for disciplinary actions and parent meetings when necessary.
* Evaluate virtual participants' training assignments for completeness, and enter values earned into participant's KRONOS timesheet.
* Responsible for required accurate data collection and the timely and efficient completion of reports and entry of data into the Chickasaw Nation Internet Quorum and KRONOS time management system for assigned participants.
* Responsible for aiding in the identification of employment training opportunities that match or relate to the career interest and skill of program participants.
* Assist with the collection of necessary data to provide updates and reports on participant progress and performance to Toksali SMART managers.
* All other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Qualifications* *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* *Preferred* - Knowledge of social services and other community resources available to participants.
*Preferred* - Must have excellent communication skills; be able to relate well to youth, parents and employers.
*Preferred* - Ability to work independently, and to meet strict deadlines *Required* - Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
*Education:* *Bachelors Required* - Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling or Social Work, or possess a valid teaching certificate, or five years’ experience in related field.
*Education Note:* *Training And Experience:* *Preferred Experience* (5+ years) - Five years’ experience working with Native American youth or tribal youth programs and/or tribal government structure preferred.
*Licenses, Certifications, Other:* *Required* - Must be able to pass background check *Preferred* - Must have or be willing to obtain a valid class B CDL license.
*Preferred* - Valid state issued teaching certificate preferred *Required* - Valid motor license with a good driving record required.
*Required* - Complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result.
*Physical Requirements:* *Required* - Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
