Elevate Church is looking for an exemplary Youth Pastor to join our staff.
This person will provide visionary oversight and pastoral leadership to the youth of Elevate Church.
The Youth Pastor will partner with parents and youth leaders in discipling the youth, will engage students with the word of God, and will support them in developing their love for Jesus and relationships with others.
To be successful in this position, the Youth Pastor will be present in the lives of the youth in their various contexts and will work to provide a place where students feel they can belong, believe the Gospel, and become lifelong disciples of Christ.
The Youth Pastor is a part-time position, however, may include working extended hours, evenings, weekends, or holidays and on short notice.
As a member of the Elevate Church staff, the Youth Pastor is supervised by the Lead Pastor and shall become a partner/member of Elevate Church.
REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor SUPERVISES: volunteers and interns (if applicable QUALIFICATIONS ● Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Lord and others as outlined in scripture.
● Has biblical training and ministry experience with the ability to preach, teach, and coach effectively.
● Lives a Gospel-centered life with a missional understanding of the church and a desire to be active in community outreach.
● Has a passion for evangelism and outreach in both their personal life and in ministry.
● Must be motivated and capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry.
● Possesses relational skills with youth, parents, and staff.
● Possesses strong communication (verbal and written), administrative, and organizational skills.
● Demonstrates the ability to lead by example, equip, and disciple youth.
● Understands the needs of youth and young adults.
● Proficient with computer applications and social media.
● Is teachable, open to feedback, and open to accountability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Provide visionary oversight and pastoral leadership to the youth ministry of Elevate Church (7th through 12th grade; up to 18 years old).
a.
Provide overall pastoral care for the youth by encouraging their spiritual growth and challenging them to grow in their commitment to Christ and His mission.
b.
Identifies and develops student and young adult leaders to mobilize effective teams.
c.
Facilitates training and supports the raising of emerging leaders d.
Serves as Youth Ministry Director within the Leadership Pipeline.
e.
Plans and coordinate youth events including: i.
Weekly meetings ii.
Youth events/outings iii.
Outreach events iv.
Summer camps v.
Mission trips 2.
Provide individualized support, nurturing of gifts, mentoring, and spiritual direction.
a.
Provide one-to-one mentoring.
b.
Lead a Christ-like lifestyle and pray regularly for those in the youth ministry and church body.
c.
Prepare students for a profession of faith.
d.
Build and maintain relationships with the parents of the youth while encouraging involvement.
e.
Equip and support parents in effectively discipling their children in the home.
f.
Oversee curriculum coordination and/or development.
g.
Facilitate incorporation of youth into various church ministries.
h.
Interact with students, families, and leaders at Sunday morning gatherings.
3.
Prepare students for life after youth.
a.
Support and facilitate gift discernment and vocational explorations.
b.
Equip youth to defend their faith.
c.
Assist youth in connecting with other church ministries, small groups, etc.
d.
Continue to be relationally present as a support/resource for students after youth ministry.
4.
Embody and nurture the intergenerational vision held by Elevate Church.
a.
Connect regularly with children’s ministry leaders and young adult leaders to maintain cohesion between ministries.
b.
Attend all worship services and staff meetings.
c.
Attend elders’ meetings as required.
d.
If appropriate, opportunities to preach and/or lead may be pursued/offered outside of youth.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES ● Meet and collaborate with other staff members to accomplish the vision and mission God has given the church.
● All staff members should plan to participate in church wide events and lend their assistance and support to the total church program.
● Assist in the preparation and supervision of the youth budget as approved by church leadership.
● Adequately plan and prepare for all services, meetings, and activities.
● Coordinate fundraising for youth related events and initiatives.
● Be available to preach during Sunday services as needed or determined by the Lead Pastor.
● Assist the Lead Pastor with visitation of members and prospective members when able.
● Other duties as required and requested by the Lead Pastor.
PERSONAL GROWTH AND RENEWAL ● Has built accountability safeguards into one’s life.
● Attends and participates in church trainings and ministry development.
● Actively seeks self-development personally and ministry development for their team.
● Plans for resilience and longevity through self-care and rest.
