The Senior General Ledger Accountant position is responsible for preparing and evaluating all financial statements and associated supporting documents, ensuring the integrity of all accounting information.
Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance.
Time management, decision-making and strong communication skills are vital.
Strict adherence to all company procedures and policies, the application of GAAP to all aspects of accounting, and confidentiality are required for this position.
Requires a willingness to work outside of normal business hours to meet deadlines, if necessary.
Must be able to communicate in the English Language.
*Responsibilities:* * Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to all aspects of accounting.
* Maintain accurate records, including supporting documentation.
* Maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
* Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
* Maintains General Ledger by reconciling subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
* Prepare accurate and reliable financial statements for the company.
* Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
* Apply GAAP to the preparation of journal entries for posting to the general ledger, financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis during monthly closeout.
* Analyze accounts to ensure accuracy; prepares reconciliations with detailed explanations of account balances.
* Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
* Retain necessary documentation per financial and audit procedures.
* Work independently with minimal guidance using good time management, planning, organization, and decision-making skills to meet deadlines.
* Practice strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interface with individuals at all levels of the business—within the organization as well as outside.
* Protect organizational value by keeping information confidential.
*Reporting Relationship:* Reports to the Controller.
_*Job Requirements:*_ *Education and Training:* * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent * 5-10 years’ experience in accounting/finance * Experience with financial reporting requirements * Experience with ERP system or other automated accounting system *Technical Requirements:* * Minimum of five years in professional accounting * Financial statement preparation and understanding * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word) * Proficient in understanding and utilizing mathematics and formulas * Information collection and presentation * Knowledge of GAAP financial terms and principles * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written * Attention to detail with accuracy and the ability to multi-task * Ability to deal with tight timelines * Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred *Company Background:* United Dynamics is a small business-certified Hub zone located in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
